Method 1: In Windows 10, click on
Win+R > iexplore > Run
This should open with msn.com on the homepage, as in the screenshot.
Method 2: Microsoft Edge is the default browser in Windows 10. But if you prefer to use IE, then this post will show you how to open Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and how you can pin it to your Start Menu or Taskbar for easy access and how you can even set it as your default web browser.
In the Windows 10 taskbar search, type Internet Explorer and you will see it appear in the results.
Clicking on it will open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Pin IE icon to Windows 10 Start or Taskbar
Right-click on the Start search result and select Pin to Start or Pin to taskbar, according to your preference. The IE icon will get pinned.
However, you can also set Internet Explorer in Windows 10 as your default browser in Windows 10.
If you use it frequently, you can set it as your default browser via Internet Options > Programs tab > Internet programs > Set programs. Control Panel will open. You can set Internet Explorer as the default browser under Set your Default Programs applet.
Method 3: Activate Cortana either by saying "Hey Cortana, open Internet Explorer," or by typing in the box if you're not using voice or have Cortana disabled. Internet Explorer will show up immediately to be opened for use. To avoid doing this every time you want to use Internet Explorer, follow these simple steps.
Type Internet Explorer in the Cortana/Search box. Saying "Hey Cortana, open Internet Explorer" isn't useful here.
Right click on Internet Explorer in the Cortana/Search window.
To add Internet Explorer as a tile on your Start Menu click Pin to Start.
To keep it on your taskbar simply click Pin to taskbar.
Now, every time you need to use Internet Explorer it's just a click away. If you don't want to add extra clutter to your taskbar, you can always now find Internet Explorer in the Start Menu under Windows Accessories in the Anniversary Update.
Method 4: Internet Explorer 11 is still included in Windows 10 along with Microsoft Edge. You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer since Internet Explorer is a Windows feature, but you can turn it on and off.
If Internet Explorer is turned off, it's not available for use by any users on the PC and can't be launched for any reason, even if no other browser is available on the system. The program files to launch and use Internet Explorer are removed to a separate storage location as a backup copy so that a user can turn Internet Explorer back on.
When Internet Explorer is turned off using Windows Features, Internet Explorer is only hidden so that there is minimal impact on third-party programs (and other parts of Windows itself) that call upon Internet Explorer app services, because the Internet Explorer files that provide functionality to third parties and other parts of Windows are left intact.
You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to turn on or off IE11.
