Lancaster students ensure fundraising success

(L-R) Monjolaoluwa Okupe, Kar Munn Tang, Angeline Angeline, Julie Lemaitre, Chiemela Victor Amaechi, Crystal Gee

Lancaster students impressed a local business and charity as part of the Insight into Event Planning course run by Lancaster University Careers in Lent term 2016.
The students, who faced considerable time pressure to achieve success, took an innovative approach to the project, partnering with Nami Sushi to increase their chances of raising as much money as possible for CancerCare.
As part of the project students are invited to create an event/ project with a starting budget of £40. This group was able to raise a staggering £293.28 with an initial expenditure of only £4.75.
Rather than build a project from scratch, the team consisting of Kar Munn Tang, Crystal Gee, Victor Amaechi, Angeline Angeline, Julie Lemaitre, and Monjolaoluwa Okupe, decided to consider different ways to fundraise for the charity. Negotiating with the owners of Nami Sushi, the students agreed that part of the overall cost of each bill would be donated to charity.

Customers enjoyed their meal at Nami Sushi

whilst learning about the great work CancerCare does in the local community.

With a poster campaign and Facebook publicity, the team made a fantastic impression, leading to Nami Sushi agreeing to support similar initiatives in the future and work with CancerCare.
The students have been a credit to Lancaster University and have made an impressive contribution to local business and charity organisations.
Huge congratulations to the team.

Husband left wife for younger lady

Probably you have read or heard about interesting love story when a husband leaves his wife for much younger woman. Well, in this article you will read such story.
After 37 years of marriage Jake decided to leave his wife for his young secretary. Probably the most interesting fact is that Jake’s new love partner wanted to live in his and Edith’s home. So, it won’t surprise you that this house is worth more than one million dollars. His lawyers won in the lawsuit and Jake was free to live in the house with his lover.
Defeated woman named Edith had just three days to leave the house. On the first day she packed her stuffs into box crates and suitcases. The second day the movers came to get her things. On the third day, she decided to sit down in the dinning – room for the last time. She had a meal of a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar and a bottle of Chardonnay.
When Edith was done with her lunch, she went into each and every room and placed half – eaten shrimp shells soaked in caviar into the hollow of all of the curtain rods. After that she went back in the kitchen, cleaned it and left the house. The next few days, the ex husband and his new lover moved in and everything was great.
After few days strange and disgusting smell began to spread around the house. The smell was so strong and was unbearably, so they tried with cleaning the house and airing it. New couple ensured that there aren’t any died rodents and washed the carpets. They had air fresheners everywhere.
In addition, they even brought exterminators in order to set off gas canisters. Jake and the secretary had to move out from the house for several days. They replaced even the wool carpeting, which was quite expensive. But the smell was still there and it was getting worse.
After few weeks their friends stopped coming by, and even their repairman couldn’t work anymore in the house. The maid also was gone.
Finally Jake and his new love were forced to move out from the house because the smell was too strong. The house was on sale, but there weren’t any buyers, even when the price was cut on half.
This intriguing story spread around the city quick and even their local realtors avoided to return their calls. So, they were forced to take a huge loan from the bank to buy a new house.
Edith called her ex husband and ask him how the things are working out for him. He told her about his problems with the house. She listened like she didn’t know anything and told him that she misses the house so bad that she would decrease her divorce settlement in exchange for taking the house back.
In this story, it turned out that Jake is naïve, although he was convinced that the fortune has smiled upon him and agreed to give her the house on a price around 1/10 of the overall worth. The only requirement and condition that Jake had was Edith to sign the papers that day. She agreed and the job was done within one hour.
One week later the two lovers were satisfied while watching the movers packing their things and taking them into their new house.

Winners never Quit

#BreakfastTips #DonVicThots #DonVicWords #Motivation

Do you know my story? My name is Victor not Quitter.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step. Start now, there is no time like now.

Opportunity calls upon you. They say opportunity comes but once, but I say opportunities are many, just be prepared.

Cowards, they say, die a thousand times before their death, but a soldier dies once. Be a strong-willed soldier. Fight on till you fulfill your dream, and never live a life of regret.

Quitting just shows you are taking the easy way out. Shortcuts are not always the best way out, so work out your future NOW. Plan it, because he who fails to plan plans to fail.

When there is a will, there is a way. So your way should be willing to try again & if you fall down, you get back up!

Never complain about life and program your mind with excuses. Your mind can be stretched, I believe in you.

You can do it. Have a CAN DO spirit, that's the best attitude in life. Be positive, prayerful, grateful, praise-full, charitable and humble.

You may have failed 1,000 times but it shows you have the heart to keep working.

But if you failed once & stopped, then that explains a quitter & quitters make excuses but winners make improvements.

Winston Churchill, a former Prime Minister of UK was invited to give a talk to young ones in his former primary school and he said: "Never give up, never never give up. Never never ever give up".

Have a blessed breakfast. DonVic wishes you well, stay great and stay connected, Jesus loves you.

The Bees and Spiritual gifts

We can learn from bees a lot. There is a lot we can learn form nature, that wise King Solomon told us to learn form the ants. For bees, when they are busy gathering from the surrounding flowers, we can do almost any kind of work with them or around them, but if there is no nectar to be gathered, kindness and tolerance are not part of their actions. They become first-class warriors!

Seems as if Christians are pretty much like bees. When they have a constant relationship with Jesus, they keep us so busy working for Him that they have little time for criticism, gossip or selfishness.

Each bee has a special job: When the hot sun shines on the hive, thousands of little wings work together to keep the wax from melting. When it becomes freezing cold, they cluster together in an oval to keep the hive warm.

When the beekeeper cuts into the honeycomb, an alarm spreads, and bees with the gift of repair arrive to fix it up. No bee stands around to accuse or condemn, they work as a team, and as a family together to fix the mess. A scar may mar the pattern, but it is still very serviceable.

Each bee has a special gift or work. Some gather nectar, others pollen, some make wax foundations, others produce cells, some exist to mate with the Queen, others define the Hive. Their purpose is to work together for the best good of the hive.

Also, in God's church we all have a task to perform to His glory. It matters not which gift is yours; what matters is are you using your gifts for God? Remain blessed and stay connected.

Gift of Prophecy

During the winter of 1849-1850, Adventist pioneers James White and Ellen White held revival meetings in Oswego, New York. At the same time the county treasurer held a revival in a nearby Protestant Church, professing to have a great burden for the unconverted.

Young Hiram Patch and his fiancee could not decide which revival with which to associate. Ellen White received a message from the Lord regarding the true character of the fellow revivalist. God told her to advise Hiram Patch, "Wait a month, and you will know for yourself the character of the persons who are engaged in this revival and who profess to have such a great burden for sinners" and Mr. Patch agreed to wait.

Within two weeks, the treasurer-revivalist burst a blood vessel in his stomach, requiring bed rest. Those who took over his treasury work at the County office found a shortage of $1,000. The Sheriff's inquiry brought only denials from the treasurer of any knowledge of the missing money. Meanwhile, another officer observed the treasurer's wife hastily hiding something in a snowbank. The "something" turned out to be $1,000.

The treasurer's revival collapsed. Hiram Patch and his fiancee, with Ellen White's counsel fresh in mind, joined the Adventist believers. The fulfilment of her inspired prediction within only two weeks greatly strengthened the faith of many in the reality of this modern gift of prophecy.

It is noteworthy that sin has made God to no longer speak face-t-face with man, as He did with Adam and Eve. Even Moses in the burning bush, felt God's presence, in the form because God is a consuming fire. How do you view the gift of prophecy? The Bible is the answer in Acts 2:17-30; 1 Cor. 14:3;  Isa. 1 John 4:3; Hosea 12:13; Matt. 7:20

Christ's Ministry in Heavenly Sanctuary

A wise father wanted to explain a complex building concept to his young son and needed a way to make his ideas easily understood. therefore he took his son into his younger sister's playroom. using her sandbox plus some cardboard and building blocs, he was able to clearly explain the complex building ideas so that his son could fully understand.

God knew that for humans to understand the heavenly sanctuary and Christ's ministry there for us, He needed to simplify the mysteries of salvation. Our heavenly Father desired us to fully comprehend those eternal truths. Therefore, he used a desert "sandbox" as it were, by which we could "visualise and touch" an example of the true heavenly sanctuary, which we could not see or touch.

Its message of redemption, grace, and love provides us with a beautiful picture of a caring God. The ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary is an essential for salvation as His death on the cross. Christ's once-fe-all death on the cross for our sins completed the atonement. Now He is making the benefits of His sacrifice available to us. Christ wants us to have an everlasting life, as John 3:16 shows us of His love for us all.

The message of the sanctuary illustrates three phases of Christ's ministry: first, His substitutionary sacrifice; second, His priestly mediation; and third, the final judgement. For all these, God used symbols to make it plain. Heb. 11:11,12; 8:2; 9:1-7; 1Tim 2:5; Rev. 22:11,12

Commonsense with Ben Murray Bruce

Making common sense is what he calls it, but recently Ben Murray Bruce has been more active with the media and Nigerian politics.

Both the Federal and State governments are owing workers salaries, yet we want to consume 30 Billion on cars? No way! "Pay Salary Before car" - Ben Bruce told Nigerian Government.

The President, 36 state Governors, Senators all politicians whether elected or appointed should forget about buying new cars! If you as an elected or appointed official are so desperate for a new car, then sell the old one you had.

The Presidency bought new cars last year. If the President wants new cars this year he should sell the old ones. The same applies to the 36 state Governors. If they want new cars, let them sell their old official cars and add money to it.

Cars aren't perishable products. They don't expire every year. Why should we buy expensive cars every year for officials? What is wrong if Senators use public transportation once in a while? What is wrong if they drive their own personal cars?

What is wrong if our ministers use public transportation or taxis once in a while? British Prime Minister, David Cameron uses the London Tube. Is he less of a human being than us?

So-called "big men" that cannot generate ideas. Cannot generate jobs for unemployed Nigerians, yet we all want fancy luxurious cars. Before we buy any car for anybody let us pay all Nigerian workers who are being owed salary arrears #PaySalaryBeforeCar

My name is Ben Murray Bruce and I just want to make Commonsense!

MANDELA TO NIGERIA

“YOU know I am not very happy with Nigeria. I have made that very clear on many occasions. Yes, Nigeria stood by us more than any nation, but you let yourselves down, and Africa and the black race very badly. Your leaders have no respect for their people. They believe that their personal interests are the interests of the people. They take people’s resources and turn it into personal wealth. There is a level of poverty in Nigeria that should be unacceptable. I cannot understand why Nigerians are not more angry than they are.

“What do young Nigerians think about your leaders and their country and Africa? Do you teach them history? Do you have lessons on how your past leaders stood by us and gave us large amounts of money? You know I hear from Angolans and Mozambicans and Zimbabweans how your people opened their hearts and their homes to them. I was in prison then, but we know how your leaders punished western companies who supported Apartheid.

“What about the corruption and the crimes? Your elections are like wars. Now we hear that you cannot be president in Nigeria unless you are Muslim or Christian. Some people tell me your country may break up. Please don’t let it happen.
“Let me tell you what I think you need to do. You should encourage leaders to emerge who will not confuse public office with sources of making personal wealth. Corrupt people do not make good leaders. Then you have to spend a lot of your resources for education.

“Educate children of the poor, so that they can get out of poverty. Poverty does not breed confidence. Only confident people can bring changes. Poor, uneducated people can also bring change, but it will be hijacked by the educated and the wealthy...give young Nigerians good education. Teach them the value of hard work and sacrifice, and discourage them from crimes which are destroying your image as a good people.”

(Excerpts taken from a 2007 interview with Mandela conducted by Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed).
